Quick Copy inconsistency: drag with Shift doesn’t match Ctrl+Shift+A (Zotero 8)
Hi, I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while and I can’t tell if I’m missing something or if this is just a limitation/bug.
I’m using Quick Copy with an ABNT author-date style. When I use Ctrl + Shift + A, everything works exactly as expected — I get something like (Hutchings; Truman; Wilkinson, 2019, p.72), which is correct for what I need.
However, when I try to do the same thing using Shift + drag and drop, the output is completely different. Instead of following the ABNT style, it gives me something like (Hutchings et al., 2019, p. 72), which looks like APA even though my style is set to ABNT.
From what I understand, both methods are supposed to use the same Quick Copy settings , so I would expect identical output, but that’s not what’s happening.
At this point it feels like drag-and-drop is using a different internal path or behaving inconsistently depending on context, which seems to match other reports of drag issues in Zotero over time .
So my question is basically: is this expected behavior in Zotero 8, or is drag-and-drop supposed to strictly follow Quick Copy settings just like Ctrl + Shift + A? And if it is supposed to work, is there any way to force drag to respect the selected citation style?

When dragging an item from the items list, Shift-drag should be the same as Ctrl-Shift-A.
But if you're dragging an annotation — which it sounds like you may be, if you're getting a page number (and based on your other comment) — then dragging copies the annotation plus a default author-date citation. That citation style isn't currently configurable. (When you're in the reader, Ctrl-Shift-C and Ctrl-Shift-A trigger Quick Copy for the parent item and don't have anything to do with any selected annotation, which is why it's not the same as dragging an annotation.)
