Android progress: epub support

Great work is happening on the android version. Can't wait to test / use the material updated version which has been in the works for a while. Is a beta phase planned for that? The last release happened end of june 2025.

Is epub support still planned for android? Poor Apple design / management decisions drove me way from iOS / iPadOS towards android, so that feature gap is now more noticeable.

HTML/EPUB Reader implementation has been merged earlier today. Now you got me on the edge of my seat looking forward to the next android beta. Very excited - thanks for working on feature parity for android <3

I'm also excited to test the EPUB support on Android.

I tried running the android app built on the latest commit which fixes filepath resolution error when opening EPUB file on some android versions (https://github.com/zotero/zotero-android/commit/3a67d36be0e43351a564b770a9d57d99451ab300), but I still got the same error.

Running Android 16.

Gave 1.0.0-234 a try and confirm opening an epub results in Webpage not available net:ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

@dstillman is this a known issue devs are aware of? Seeing a few open issues irt epub but they don't seem to match this specific issue I think.

Not clear what you're using — we haven't released a build with this feature yet. As far as we know the functionality works. When a beta is out, if you're having trouble with the official build, you should report it at that time.

I understand this is not in an official build. Just wanted to let you know about the issue. This is using webdav which works as expected on iPadOS but on android throws mentioned error. It seems zotero is expecting the file where it cannot be found.

It could be because .github/workflows/ci.yml file of this nightly build project is missing a call to scripts\bundle_reader.sh found in Zotero project:

I have tried to fix the problem, please redownload and reinstall to test. If the issue persists, please report it in the nightly build repository.

Thanks @northword for swiftly implementing the change and @DimaP for pointing out the problem.
With todays build epubs do open as expected. So happy to finally start using epubs on android.
