Sync error in Zotero 8 after opening a PDF in Zotero 9 Beta
Right after opening a PDF in Zotero 9.0-beta.13 on macOS, I the sync fails in Zotero 8.0.4 on Ubuntu. Error message:
Debug ID: D1193121185Some data in My Library could not be downloaded. It may have been saved with a newer version of Zotero.
Other data will continue to sync.

poettliI might add that I don't see this error in Zotero 8.0.5 on macOS.

dstillman Zotero TeamHave you run the beta on that Linux database?
-
poettliI have already run Zotero 9 beta on the Linux database. I have never run Zotero 9 beta on the macOS database. Should I run again the beta on Linux or do you want me to wait?
-
dstillman Zotero TeamIf you recently ran the beta on this Linux database, this is expected. The beta updates the database in a way that causes it to permanently start receiving the timestamp for the Recently Read feature, even if you then downgrade to the production version. Attachment items that you've opened with the beta will then no longer sync to that older client.
-
poettliI understand that, but then why it is not happening on macOS? I also recently ran the beta but no such error message pops up.
-
dstillman Zotero TeamYou might have run the beta before the Recently Read update. Doesn't really matter — this is 100% caused by running the beta with Recently Read and then going back to production, and the fix would be to go back to the beta until Z9 comes out.

poettli(It was about 1 minute apart.) Thank you for your time and the explanation.
