Word template with restricted styles, no italics in footnotes
Various teams at my organisation are trying to use a Word template with restricted/locked styles in desktop and finding that footnotes inserted with Zotero don’t display italics. Sometimes they open the template from Sharepoint but use the desktop, not online version of Word. I’m not sure if this is what is meant by citations being flattened, a description I’ve seen in a few discussions. When the styles are unlocked, italics appear in footnotes again without creating a new document. This discussion is the closest I’ve seen to what we’re experiencing: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/307466#Comment_307466. We are using our own CSL style, created in 2021 and never altered, but these issues have only occurred in the past few months. I tried the option suggested in the linked discussion, of changing to a different style like IEEE then back to the preferred style while the document styles were still restricted, but it made no difference – still no italics. How can we get italics to appear in our footnotes in a template with restricted styles?

Is someone able to help with my query above?
Thanks.
