Zotero not working. Help!

I'm on 2.0b7.6 on a Mac. Zotero stopped working, I think since I've downloaded the beta version - but perhaps before that, or on an update. My data is there, but I can't get it to pick up anything off the web, not Amazon, not library voyager, JSTOR -- nothing. Sometimes I get a message (but not about permissions) but lately I just see a gray box pop up with no message in it. I tried to go back to the older version of Zotero, but an error message appears: "Zotero user data DB version is newer than SQL file." I've reset translators, checked database, nothing seems to work. Please help if you can. Thanks.
  • please provide an error report ID after trying to grab something from a common site like NY Times, amazon, or JSTOR. (Report Errors in the gears menu).
Also, try disactivating all other Firefox add ons you are using, restart Firefox and see if Zotero is working. If it does, activate them one by one to figure out the guilty party.
  • Here's the error report I submitted: 1839059145 I disabled all my add-ins--no effect.
  • Zotero.Proxy: could not be saved because it is invalid: error scheme.invalid
You didn't actually specify what site you tried to save from, which would be helpful, but check the Proxies pane of the Zotero prefs. Let us know what entries are there, including the settings you see if you double-click on each line.
  • I was trying to save from my library catalog, voyager site. In Zotero prefs, I have one proxy:
    http://%h.www2.lib.ku.edu:2048/%p

When I click on that for more info, "multi-site" is checked, "automatically associate new hosts" is checked, then there is a long list of websites in the box below.
  • I also just tried a JSTOR save and got a grey box, this time with an error message. I reported it on 1009655786
  • Are the sites listed all sites that need to be proxied through your library, or do they include sites like Amazon?

Provide a Debug ID for a save attempt from an Amazon product page, clear output, and then provide another for a save attempt from the library catalog.

Can you confirm that "Accept third-party cookies" is enabled (or it's just set to "Remember history" at the top) in the Privacy pane of the Firefox preferences?
  • All the sites proxied look like those I need to access through my library, Amazon is not included. I did NOT have "Accept third-party cookies" checked. I checked it, and now it looks like I'm okay. I was able to do a save both from my library catalog and a JSTOR search. Was that likely the only problem?
  • Sorry for the trouble. I didn't notice that. Thanks for your help.
