Customize the citation and use Omit Author. See "Narrative Citations with Omit Author” there. (A better way of doing this is planned.)
  • Yes, using omit author can do this, But, why not implement a function in an automatic way?
  • See the last sentence of dstillman’s response
  • It is said in the comment above yours:

  • beside "omit author" checkbox, would there be another "author (year)" checkbox,
  • Yes, but doing it properly is vastly more complicated than adding a checkbox (for reasons explained in some very long threads here). We've made some progress on the dependent parts and hope to offer something in the not-too-distant future.
  • How about allowing users to copy the name of author in the dialog, as a temporary solution for convenience. Thank you.

  • Sorry, I may have missed something here, but where does it say what is being planned in this regard? I'm working on another open source project and am trying to export docx/odt files with Zotero citations and the lack of the "author (year)" seems to set Zotero apart from a lot of other citation systems, so I'm wondering how to best translate this or whether it's best to just wait until this has been implemented in Zotero. But I can see that this issue has come up regularly over the past 15+ years, so maybe it's something that is more of a long-term goal and I should try to come up with a temporary solution until then?
