My Zotero library dropped from ~6000 items to 88 in the web library

I had 6000 items, but now it's showing 88.

I'm not sure what happened?

    You're either thinking of some other account or you had local data that you haven't synced. Your online library with 88 items has never had other items in it. Nothing has ever been deleted.
  • How would I find the other account?
  • Because I'm very confident I used this same name/ account. I have not recently made a new account.

    And I don't think there was local data that was unsynced, since I used to access it on different computers.

    That's something you'd have to figure out.

    You can try resetting your password with other email addresses you have.

    But you'll need to trust us that there has never been any other data in this account.
  • Can you tell me when this current email address was established? My belief is that I set up Zotero in 2017, and iteratively added to it, on two separate computers.

    is it possible that I missed an email, saying that my account would be deleted? And I then did not realise I was only saving locally?

    But there is a problem, because my 88 items do not include those i saved previously??
  • Something has gone wrong, I have used zotero for many years. I have used it across multiple devices, yet it is only showing items saved this year.

    I have used Zotero for many years, on multiple devices, but cannot see prior content. Can you please help.
  • I'd follow the advice on email addresses: You can see on https://www.zotero.org/settings/email which emails are associated with the account your posting from. Then try password reset to any other ones you'd plausibly have used.
  • There is only one email address connected.

    The only thing that changed is that I downloaded a new version of Zotero when I bought my new computer in January. Is it possible there is some glitch?
  • Is it possible that my content is saved under a sub-folder? I called one GGD? But that's not visible now

    No, it's just another account, associated with a personal email address. It's the email address that that email shown above went to.

    If you can't find it, email support@zotero.org and we can tell you the account name and address.
