Cite Them Right 12th edition ignores Polish language setting (uses "et al" instead of "i in.")

Hello everyone,

I am trying to use the Cite Them Right 12th edition (Harvard) style with the Zotero interface language set to Polish.

Despite the language setting, the citations are rendering in English (using "et al" and "&") instead of the correct Polish terms ("i in." and "i").

What I have tried:

Verified that Zotero's interface language is set to Polish (Polish characters display correctly elsewhere).

Checked the "Locale" settings in the CSL editor, but the style seems to override them.

I found a community version (cite-them-right-12th-edition-pl) which works, but I would prefer to understand why the main style isn't respecting the language tag.

My questions:

Is this a known limitation of the Cite Them Right style specifically (hard-coded terms)?

Would the correct fix be to modify the main style to include a override, or is this something that should be fixed in the official CSL repository?

If I create a corrected version, what is the proper protocol for sharing it or submitting a pull request?

I am happy to help test or contribute to a fix if needed.

Thank you for your time!

System Setup: Zotero 7 (or 6) on Windows/macOS.
