Style Error: Nottingham Trent University Harvard Referencing
Hi all, hope you are all well
I’ve identified two discrepancies between the Nottingham Trent University (Harvard) style and the official university guidelines.
1. Author Lists in Bibliography
Currently, the style is using "et al." in the reference list. According to the Harvard style, the reference list should display the full names of all authors
2. Disambiguation of Similar Surnames
When citing different primary authors with the same surname in the same year (e.g., B. Song and X. Song), the current style is adding initials to the in-text citation:
Current: (B. Song et al., 2024) and (X. Song et al., 2024)
Expected: (Song et al., 2024a) and (Song et al., 2024b) to maintain a clean
Example of current incorrect output:
Song, B. et al., 2024. How to calculate privacy: privacy concerns and service robots’ use intention in hospitality. Current Issues in Tourism, 27 (21), 3401–3417. 10.1080/13683500.2023.2265029.
Song, X. et al., 2024. Understanding trust and rapport in hotel service encounters: extending the service robot acceptance model. Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology, 15 (5), 842–861. 10.1108/JHTT-12-2023-0428.
I’ve tested the "University of Birmingham" Harvard style, and it handles these cases correctly. Is it possible to update the NTU CSL file to correct the style? Many thanks for your help!
