Zotero 8: my thesis (Word document) is too slow to work in
[Split from zotero 8 issues]
My computer installed the latest update this morning (about 2 hours ago) and ever since that update (I'm now on 8.0.2 - don't know what I was on previously), my thesis (Word document) is too slow to work in. I can not type without a lag or delay. It is highly frustrating. It is only in my thesis where i'm working with Zotero. It is a big file (450 pages), but it has not been THIS slow ever. Typing a sentence lags about 5 or 6 seconds. I can not make my file smaller. IN my Zotero settings (document preferences), it is NOT set to "automatically update citations". When I open my Word document (thesis) and the question pops up to as "Do you want to update this document with data from the linked files?" , i always answer "NO". Please help, this is so frustrating. My computer is not slow in any other way except when i'm working on this Thesis file. It is not the first time it is going slower, but this is the worst. It started going slower with other Zotero updates towards the end of last year, but this is the worst it has been, despite my thesis actually getting slightly shorter.

Adding more citations to your document could make Word slower, regardless of the length of the document.
We always recommend splitting a large document (regardless of the number of Zotero citations) up into chapters while editing and then combining at the end. Word just can't handle extremely large documents that well.
