Available for beta testing: Notes in tabs

In the latest Zotero 8 beta, it's now possible to open notes in tabs in addition to separate windows. Note tabs fill the whole window, with wide margins for a clean, distraction-free space for note-taking.

By default, double-clicking a note in the items list will open it in a tab. You can choose to open the note in the other space from the context menu, and you can change the default behavior using the "Open notes in new windows instead of tabs" setting in the General pane of the settings.

Notes in tabs have a separate font size setting in the View menu. (This doesn't currently apply to note windows, but it probably should.)

    That was the best functionality of Better Notes plugin for me, thanks for carrying it to the main program.
    I would like to add that having seperate font size settings for note tabs and other note views makes sense to me, especially since margins of note tabs gets narrower as you enlarge the font size. I am using right sidebar note section for taking notes while in PDF view, so I need smaller font size for the notes to fit the limited right hand space that I allocate to notes.
    Seems like right sidebar note section don't correctly behave when narrowing and enlarging it, I will submit a bug for that.
  • Hey, would this have pen input on ios/android?

    Would be great for pen input notes!

    Font sizes don't work in Zotero 8.0.1 on OS X 26.2 on note tabs

    Neither "View -> Font size -> Bigger"
    nor "View -> Note Font Size -> "
    has any effect on the note as a whole nor on a selection

    @rbpasker: It's Note Tab Font Size, also in that menu.
  • how about adding CMD- and CMD- ?

    What do these apply to?

    "View -> Font size -> Bigger"
    "View -> Note Font Size -> "

    We can consider that.

    Font Size is the UI font size, and Note Font Size is the font size for notes in the item pane and (currently) note windows.
