synching issues report id 1230207428

I am not able to sync my home computer and am repeatedly getting this error message as below.

I tried creating a new item for the item that was problematic and merged the two file and also deleted the pdf attached to the original file.

I also deleted the entire folder, C:\Users\monic\Zotero\storage\993FP6EN\ (which was probably stupid.

This would generally be due to security software on your system preventing Zotero from making changes to its own data directory.
  • thanks, I think this fixed the problem.

Out of curiosity, what was it?

  • I have backups of my Zotero data on a hard drive. Do you think I should restore the folder I deleted?

If you mean that you already switched accounts, yes. Doing so deletes all local data (as it warns), and since you were at your storage quota, any local files that hadn't been uploaded due to the quota would've been deleted. The warning says to make a backup before proceeding, so assuming you did that, you should switch back to the backup. Once you add your institutional email address to the account, you'll be able to upload those files.

I upgraded my storage and am at about 50% capacity. I did not switch acounts. My institution doesn't pay for or support Zotero. I haven't done a backup in a long time. I think I'll just live with the deleted files and reconstruct as needed by recreating the metadata and such when I come across a problematic item.

Oh, sorry, I mixed this up with another thread. Disregard what I said. Sure, you can certainly restore that one folder. But it's just one attachment file. You can likely just re-add the PDF.
  • thanks. Does the folder pertain to only one item? Just making sure.
