@fatpaw: What was it in Z7? Can you provide another Debug ID from Zotero startup through it finishing loading?
For most libraries, startup in the beta should actually now be faster than it was in Z7. In libraries with tens of thousands of annotations, it might still be a little slower than Z7 just because of some additional loading it has to do in order to display annotations in the items list. We may be able to do some additional optimizations there.
