[Suggestion] Improve the UI and flow for adding references to collections on Android

edited 3 days ago
At the moment, the UI is prohibitive with many collections. We have hundreds and there is no filtering, searching, folding, alphabetised scrolling, scrolling position indication, no current path indication or any other means to cope, just a huge flat list with indented collection names.

It would be great to improve this, please.
  • There's both filtering and alphabetized scrolling for collections, or what am I misunderstanding?
  • In the collections view on an Android phone I do see collapsible folders but no other tools that I or you mentioned.

But try long-pressing a reference and then try to pick a collection for it by pressing the folder icon on bottom left. I only see a flat list.

    Am I missing something?
  • Oh, I had no idea you were talking about the Android app (without qualifications, 'Zotero' implies the Desktop app). I don't know what the plans are going forward, but I know that the priority for the mobile apps have always been reading & annotation workflows
  • Silly me, I was sure it was in the title but obviously not.

Yes, I mostly use the app for reading on the go but am travelling and wanted to add a few papers plus sort them into collections. First time I am trying this.
