documentation for forum username

I've been using Zotero for a while, but this is my first time posting to this forum. On this page:

https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_support

it says:

"you can choose a different username for the forums from your account settings"

Since I'm a privacy nut, I wanted to do this, but it took me a long time to figure out how because I use the Zotero desktop app rather than the web app. It turns out you can do this from the accounts settings **in the web app** but not in the desktop app. It would be helpful if this were stated in the docs.

"account settings" by definition means the website — you can't make changes to your account in the desktop app — and is a direct link to the settings. The link was just outdated after a reorganization of the settings. I've fixed the link.

Thanks for the fast reply and fast fix! It's possible there's a desktop-app user interface improvement related to this. In the Zotero desktop app, I went to Edit > Settings and searched for "username" which displayed the Sync Settings page. Maybe there could be a note or link on that about needing to use the web-app Settings screen to manage username(s).

Thanks again for Zotero 8 - I'm thinking 2026 is the year that I go all in on Zotero!
