web-PDF cannot be catched with Zotero connector

edited yesterday at 1:27pm
How may I add a PDF, found on the web (using vivaldi-stable)?

Zotero connector plugin works fine on Web pages. But when I try to add an URL pointing to a PDF, I may open the PDF with the Browser plugin. But clicking on the zotero connector icon only lets me edit the zotero plugin (uninstall ect.), not add the PDF to my library.

OTOH, I cannot manually add a web page URL. At least there is no dedicated item for a document accessible via a given URL/URN (there is no DOI).

1) Is there no way to make it possible to let the plugin catch a document like the above mentioined?
2) How would I do that manually?

Thanks.

Vivaldi isn't a supported browser, so this may not work as intended, but if it does:
    1) PDFs starting with http can be added via the connector. If they are first downloaded and then opened with a file: URL they cannot be
    2) You can just download them and drag them to Zotero. That should even work from the browser download dialog
  • The connector works fine with vivaldi. But it seems a PDF can only be catched if is embedded in a landing page (KI told me so, and it seems right as it neither works with chromium). If it is a naked link to a dokument, zotero connector cannot (does not) catch the file. This behavior may be fine for a (in essence unreliable) URL, but catching it should be possible with a intentionally stable URN.

Anyway, I'll add the item manually.

    Thanks for your insights.
  • AI is mostly wrong about Zotero. The behavior I describe above is how Zotero works on all supported browsers
  • Ok, you are right, partially ;-)

But, can you catch this PDF with the connector (with whatever browser)?:
