PDF consumes too much memory resources

PDF consumes too much memory resources if it has many pages or exceeds several hundred MB in size.
  • Can you give specific examples?

Perhaps he and I have had a similar experience in MacOS. When opening a PDF file for reading, a large amount of memory is consumed. But, I only opened two pdf tab. I haven't installed many plugins, only three. Worse still, when you close all the pdf tabs, your memory won't be released in time.
  • @kaijie: Disable all plugins and restart Zotero. If you can reproduce the problem, let us know the exact steps, with links to specific PDFs, to do so.
  • I just want to use plugins in Zotero. If I have to disable them to reduce memory usage, then why don’t I just stop using Zotero altogether?

No one is saying you should not use any plugin at all, this just a diagnostics step.

The idea is to identify if a plugin is the cause, and if yes which one. Then you can report the problem to the relevant plugin developer so that they can fix it.
If the problem is really Zotero itself, i.e. the problem happens without any plugin, the Zotero developers will be able to take a closer look.
