Challenge with Mac

I am running a mac with up to date OS, and the word plug in. The program wont let me change my citation style from long form Chicago, to the version of Chicago with uses name and date for subsiquent citations. I added the form from the list, but the program wont let me change the citation form that I use.

What exactly do you mean when you say it won't let you change it?

To be clear, you need to change the style in the plugin's Document Preferences window, where you set the style for that document to begin with.

I understand this. The correct format is highlighted in blue, yet I keep getting full footnotes, instead of subsequent author/title.

Can you provide a screenshot that shows the style you've set and a screenshot of the footnotes you're getting?

Can you reproduce this in a new, empty document?

I just tried it with a new document and it works perfectly. With my real document not so good.

Rickfels is quoted on the previous pages so this is a subsequent note.

Strangely the first 15 pages of the document (which I had added the notes on my PC are in the correct format, and remain as such when I ran refresh. But after page 15 when I started uning my MAC the note format is incorrect.

They refresh to the wrong format.

Again, we'd need to see a screenshot. The screenshot you provided shows unprocessed citations (with a dashed underline), which aren't expected to be in the final format.

Those citations don't look like they have been inserted with Zotero. Or they may have been unlinked, see Existing Citations Not Detected.
