integration zotero-ebook reader device

hi, i would need advice...
i have zotero as my center for managing sources,
but i would prefer to read and annotating the PDFs not with in the computer but on an external device
and would like the PDF annotation made in the device to be recognized by zotero when i synchronize the PDFs.

is this possible?
are there any caveats?
any advice about which ebook device i shuols prefer?

    use an android capable e-book reader such as those from boox. run zotero for android, and all of your problems are solved. Alternatively, search for e-reader integration on these forums, but the solution will be much less streamlined. Beware of remarkable, as they are a closed system that makes it very difficult to exchange files with zotero. Generally speaking, if you work with a non-android ereader, you need a process to move pdfs in and out of zotero. For this you need a plugin, such as attanger or zotmoov.

    so my question becomes: are all the ebook readers/not remarkable equally suited to work with a sources in Zotero?

    the use of an android ebook reader where one can install zotero solves the problem of keeping up to date the annotations because - if i understand correctly - one has only to synchronize zotero on android with zotero on Mac

    Yeah, the Boox devices work particularly nicely with Zotero.
    More traditional ebook readers like Kindle, Nook, etc., require the above plugins

    i saw that the boox device have a quite high price.
    what about the Meebook(s)? a b/w one like the M8 ?

    I don't know -- I've not seen it mentioned here ever, which would give me pause. Also, doesn't look like it lets you annotate -- YMMV

    you're right adamsmith, in the Meebook line are the Pro's those who work with the stylus

    ehhr, not quite: the website https://mymeebook.com/ for the M8 states that the pen must be bought separately
    so it does digitize, it seems

    it's no to play ping pong :-)
    rather to try to elucidate if a good value can be found in a less costly device

    I have no idea about meebook, but they are 8 inch at maximum. And if you read academic articles then many will be on A4 originally (or A5), and you will read them as pdf, rather than as ebub. To read such pdfs you need at least a 10inch reader, better 13inch. The issue here is not just integration, but ease of use when reading pdfs. Which leaves you with boox or remarkable (and maybe some Chinese niche brands that I do not know of). Boox is open to various formats and can run apps, has an excellent track record of updating their operating system. Look on ebay etc for used ones. You can comfortably buy a boox Max 2 or Max 3, which are several years old and still will work nicely. People here on these forums have been trying to get remarkable open up their system to no avail.
