Add-In to Word on Windows

I've tried now everything I could find to install the add-in of zotero in word correctly. And it just won'T show up permanently on the word menu bar. I can manually add it through the "developer tool" on the menu bar, but when I close word and open it again the Zotero slot is gone again.
How can I make it stay permanently?
  • See Zotero Toolbar Doesn't Appear and the platform-specific steps linked from there, and if you're still having trouble, let us know exactly what you tried, in your own words, and what happened at each step.
  • I've tried the full manual explanations on this website as I've said. I've checked multiple times and the "Microsoft Word Template (.dotm)" data is in the right folder as well as connected in the Word folder. When I add the "developer tool" (Entwicklertools in german) option on the Word menu bar, and open the option "Word-Add-Ins" I am able to find Zotero under the templates. I can add it as well and click on "ok" and it's appearing on the menu bar. But when I close Word and open it again, it's not there anymore and I gotta add it again manually.
  • What is your full version of Word (In Word press File -> Account -> About Word)? Can you update to the latest version?
  • It's the latest version.
    Version 2510 (Build 19328.20244)
  • If you create a new temporary Windows user account, does the same issue occur there?
  • I have two accounts, same problem with both. But I've managed now that it stays in a document. When I open a new or another one I have to add it again manually.
  • You should still test with a new temporary Windows user account. This may be occuring due to some user configuration either in your account or Word, and testing in a new user account resets those.

Otherwise, you may try reporting this to Microsoft via the feedback option in Word. This is strictly a Word, not a Zotero issue, since it could happen with any dotm file.
