Switching from Footnotes to Endnotes Errors

I copied paragraphs from a word document that was using footnotes (Chicago) to a document using endnotes. My document preferences (I'm on a Mac) says "Chicago Manual of Style 18th edition (shortened notes and bibliography)" with "display citations as endnotes." I have tried refreshing the document several times but it is not syncing up. Half of it is now in footnotes and the other half is in endnotes! How do I fix this?

    Change Zotero document preferences to footnotes, and then back to endnotes. If the footnotes have other text besides Zotero citations, they may not be automatically converted to endnotes. In that case you should manually convert them by inserting endnotes, and copying the footnote text into endnotes.
