Show or hide menu bar with Alt

Could you enable show or hide the menu bar with the alt key ? As it does on thunderbird or many other apps ?

This and a command palette should be standard features in every modern application. Good for decluttering, especially on small screens.
The command palette also saves us the frustration of having to drop what we are doing to go hunting through menus to find where we last saw a setting.
