iOS Debug Log: D1385718829
[Describe the issue you're reporting.]
I’m trying to open some PDF files that perfectly open both in the online library and in my Mac’s desktop app, but the iPad won’t open them fully. Either not all the pages show or a “uploading” sign (like a wheel) shows but it never stops, and either way it freezes completely so I can select no option whatsoever. Only can open zotero’s main library and then it happens again.TRied uninstalling and installing again, but to no use.

1. "Either not all the pages show" - so the PDF opens, but it's missing pages? Only on iOS? You can see all pages on web library? Are you sure you're opening the same document? If yes, you can try removing the downloaded document on iOS (long press the item and choose "Remove Download") and then re-download it (just tap the item). Let me know if that opened the document with proper number of pages.
2. ""uploading” sign (like a wheel) shows but it never stops" - Can you provide a Debug ID of you trying to download an attachment?
3. "and either way it freezes completely so I can select no option whatsoever" - What freezes? The whole app? What options do you mean? Can you clarify a bit more?
I managed to solve the problem by uploading to the beta version you made for the discussion "iOS crash" by PrettyPhi (from April 2025). Basically whenever I opened the PDF file in itself it would crash, either by not showing all the pages or by showing the "uploading" wheel. Invariably tho, it would stay frozen so I wouldn't be able to change pages or select any option but to re-start Zotero from the app option of opening "My Library" in the iPad. Then I would be able to open my library and any section except for opening the PDF file again, when it would crash and I'd have to start all over again. Also, I know it wasn't a problem of the specific file not working because it would only happen with iOS (iPad and iPhone), but with both the desktop app in my Mac and with my library in Safari (online library) it would open perfectly.
Like I said, the beta version solved it for me so I guess more people had that bug and it's been implemented. :D
I only wanted to ask, can I keep this beta until a new official version is available? It's the first time I use a beta version of anything.
Thanks again!
Just one more question, did you see a Report ID after you re-opened the app after crash? If yes, please try to send us the Report ID too, so that we can take a look at the issue at hand.
Also, could you send us the file which kept crashing for you to support@zotero.org and mention this thread? We'd like to verify whether the issue is completely fixed for everyone.
Thanks!
