boox go 7 side buttons?

i recently got a boox go 7 and cant figure out how to set the side buttons to page forward and back. for other ereader apps on the device its page control by default, but on zotero it controls volume. does anyone have a solution for this? i dont see anything in the side button or zotero app settings.
  • Apps specifically for the Boox, or general apps? E.g., does the Kindle app do this?

I believe we'd have to add explicit support for treating hardware volume up/down as page turns. I assume we can do that fairly trivially. I'm just curious how common it is.
  • I would love that feature to be implemented. volume control for Zotero makes no sense in this context
  • to add to that: the native reading app (NeoReader) on boox does support page turning via the side buttons. the Zotero app (android) toggles volume control via those buttons.

Well, you just might want to control the volume of something else you're playing in the background — the audio doesn't have to be coming from Zotero. That's why I'm wondering how common this is beyond the native apps. But if Boox wants to make this a thing, I guess we can support it (perhaps with a setting).

well finally I found a solution for the Boox Onyx Go Color 7 (Gen II) (who made up this product name?):

the setting is hidden deep in a menu where I least expected it.
Go open the Zotero app. Slide open your "control center". Click on "E-ink-center". then "Customize". Then click on "Others". Scroll down to the last entry. Select "Scrolling" for the entry "Customize Buttons". Now the buttons will no longer toggle the volume of the device but will rather, well, scroll through the document.

Unfortunately the option "Page turning" has no effect apart from disabling the volume buttons.

This has to be the worst user interface of all time. I don't know, if I ever will buy an android device of that company again.
    Best

  • We'll see if we're able to detect the buttons when that setting is set to "Page turning".
