Tags not importing.

I have my citations in Mendeley, most of which are organized in Groups. When I use the Mendeley to Zotero exporter, it doesn't recognize these citations. Exporting them as BibTeX or RIS works, but does not transfer any of the metadata like tags.

How can I resolve this issue so I maintain the metadata sotred in Mendeley?

  • Zotero has a built-in importer for Mendeley, which should yield better results.
  • Hi @tnajdek. The importer you are referencing is what I have tried. It tells me that no references are available for transference, possibly because my references have been grouped?

Any thoughts to get around this bug would be appreciated, as exporting manually to BibTeX or RIS does not transfer the metadata.
  • Yes, you would need to copy the collections and items to your personal library, as explained on the documentation page:
It’s not possible to directly import group libraries. To import items in group libraries, copy the group items to a collection in your Mendeley library before importing. You can then create a Zotero group and drag imported collections or items to that group.
