I cannot create a new note

There is a Menu item to create an independent note which is active (not grey). Clicking on it results in - nothing. No window to enter text or any dialogue.
But6 I can create dependent notes...
  • disk I/O error
    This is a generic storage I/O error. We can't tell you specifically what the problem is, but the most common cause is having your Zotero data directory on a network filesystem or in a cloud storage folder (where it should never be). It could also be due to an actual physical problem with your disk or due to security software interfering with Zotero's ability to access the disk.

    2 I am amazed. Because I have been using Zotero for 10 years and I know such problems _not_. So, it seems to me that this problem was only created with the new current version,

    But I admit that I work on my local network server and not in the cloud. Some collections are not in the general path for Zotero, but each collection in separate directories. As I Said: that was never a problem!

    The Zotero is installed locally. The Zotero dir is on locl network. But I have many _linked_ docoments in several directories.
  • Storing the database on a network share may be less likely to work in Zotero 7.

    You can try the Zotero beta — which is based on an even newer Firefox version — to see if that's any different, but there's a good chance you'll need to keep the data directory on a local disk for now. We may be able to make this possible again in the future.
  • well nevertheless it seems that I must live with this problem. To store the data of Zotero n a local disk is no option. There is no more capacity...
