Limit to amount group members?

Hey!
we want to start using Zotero as a central online library for articles and journals. also because of the integration with Word as reference manager.

My question, is their a max amount of group members allowed for group libraries?
  • No, not technically. Speaking from experience, though, having too many people who are able to edit a library tends to not work well -- someone is bound to mess up and delete items or whole collections etc.
  • I see.
How did you mitigate that in your experience? limiting "library editing" to admin's only?
  • Exactly, yes.
In my research group, we have a slack channel were people post things they'd like added to Zotero and then have our graduate assistants do semi-regular sweeps and add those items. That obviously won't work if people are actively writing and want to add works quickly for CWYW.
I actually just tend to use one group per project for those projects with just the people who are actively participating, but different groups may have different experiences.
  • Great! Thank you.
Following your way of working, I could make one "mother" group as the base where to store all files, articles, etc.
And then work with separate groups for projects/teams.
    Interesting!
  • A model I’ve seen work well with a “mother” group is to allow members of the small project groups add there and then you regularly sweep through to copy things over to the main group
