Cannot update: locked files

Dear community, I would like to find a way to forego locked files when updating zotero on mac.

I get the following error message when I try to update to the newest version: "The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again."

I have many zotero files and tried to go through them manually but could not find any locked items. (Apart from the fact that this really takes a lot of time.)

Is there a way to update zotero asking the update to ignore any files that the software identifies as locked? Alternatively, is there a fast way to unlock all items that are linked to zotero?

Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to here. That's a message from macOS — it's not something you should ever see in Zotero itself. And updating the app wouldn't have anything to do with your own Zotero library files.

If you're actually just trying to update the app and having trouble, you should just delete the app from Applications and reinstall it from the download page. Make sure you've closed Zotero first. Your Zotero data will not be affected.
