Safari Connector and Zotero 7.0.26

I can't seem to get Safari Connector to work with Zotero 7.0.26. At first I couldn't even find Safari Connector in the Extensions tab of Settings, but it did eventually appear—not after one restart, but after several restarts. But now that I see it and checked the box, it does not appear in my Safari window, i.e. it is unusable.

I'm running Mac OS Sequoia 15.6.1. I followed all of the instructions here: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/safari_compatibility including 1) reinstalling the app; 2) compressing and uncompressing Zotero; and 3) forcing extension reloading. I restarted my computer after each of these steps. I'm running a 2020 MacBook Air with an M1 chip. Any suggestions appreciated.

We're not aware of any situation in which any one of these three options wouldn't work.

Re: "I restarted my computer after each of these steps", note that the restart, if necessary at all (and it usually isn't), should be specifically after deleting the Zotero app from Applications.
  • ok I did finally get it working. I deleted the app AGAIN (deleted it for the second time) and re-downloaded (for the 3rd time). This time it worked. It did NOT work the first time I deleted the app and reinstalled. I didn't restart this time—I did restart last time after deleting the app. For those who are having this issue, it's worth a try to delete and reinstall again.
  • I am having this exact issue as well and I have tried all of the troubleshooting methods listed above and in the link. Nothing has worked.

@Emily.Dalecki: Those are the options that work. As you can see from the above comments, sometimes you have to try multiple times. You can also wait longer between attempts, make sure you're running the latest version of macOS, etc. Beyond that, as it says on the page, "Currently, the only known way to avoid this problem altogether is to switch to a browser with a more reliable extension framework such as Firefox, Chrome, or Edge."
