Zotero Storage works on a subscription basis, similar to other services (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.). You pay for a set amount of space and can use it during the active subscription period.

If you don’t use all the space before your plan expires, the unused portion doesn’t roll over—it just expires with the subscription. After expiration, your account reverts to the default free quota of 300MB.
