Displaying Locations of Notes

edited 8 days ago
I’ve noticed that freestanding notes in my Zotero library don’t consistently highlight all the collections they belong to in the Collections pane when I select them with Ctrl held down. Sometimes they do—usually just after I’ve first added them—but most of the time only the first collection highlights.

Am I missing a step? It would also be helpful if notes had the same Library icon in the Item Details pane that citation items have, showing all collections where the note is stored.
  • The modifier key should work the same way. Can you make a screen recording of reproducing this and send a link to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?

But we'll likely add the Libraries & Collections section for standalone notes and attachments in a future version.
  • Done! Thanks.
  • Can you reproduce it in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”)?
  • It does the same thing. Is it possible my data is corrupted in some way?
  • I see this as well on windows. @DonnaCoxBaker, what happens if you try to scroll the list of collections (or items) while holding Ctrl? For some peculiar reason, if I scroll (just for a moment) while holding Ctrl, collections get highlighted for me. That certainly shouldn't be happening but I'm curious if it helps you as well.
  • It used to highlight all of the relevant collections, and I could scroll down looking at them until I clicked on something else. At least that's the way I remember it. I just tried holding down the Ctrl key to see if it highlighted more than one collection. It didn't. But it's only a problem on old notes I have--not on new ones I am creating now. At least that was today's experience. The problem isn't consistent.

Right, if you hold Ctrl - nothing gets highlighted (at least most of the time). And if you hold Ctrl and then scroll the list of collections? Highlighting still doesn't appear?
