Zotero linked to Boox Neoreader

On Boox NeoReader, Zotero items with both a stored PDF and a parent URL cannot be opened. NeoReader attempts the URL first and errors. If I delete the URL field, NeoReader opens the stored PDF normally. Looks like NeoReader is calling the API incorrectly and ignoring the imported_file PDF attachment.

Just delete URL and boox will open it after a re-sync. But it's annoying to do it for every article!
  • You should report this to them if you haven't. The URL field (if you really mean that and not a web link attachment) is used for citing, among other things, so deleting that field is not a good solution.
  • I did report it yes. That's a very good point, it's not viable for the long term solution. Honestly I would like to be able to get more people reporting it to both Onyx and Zotero because this bug has existed for a while now (though not sure how many people report and hunt for a cause). And you are correct, I meant the URL field in Zotero.
  • how to reproduce:
add a journal article to zotero with metadata including a URL.
    sync.
attempt to open the article in neoreader with Zotero integration.
    download error
remove URL field in Zotero desktop or app.
    sync
    sync on neoreader too
then try and open the file and it will open (takes a little bit to get it to sync on neoreader sometimes, since there's no sync button)

There's no point in reporting it to us. We have nothing to do with that integration. We provide our own Android app.
