Please don't use CTRL-SHIFT-S as the default shortcut key for the Chromium browser extensions

That is the shortcut key for doing a browser screenshot =)
I can figure out how to change the shortcut, but I can't figure out how to actually remove it! It seems to be a feature missing from Chromium browsers, or at least Microsoft Edge, lol.
  • I'm not totally clear what your complaint is here.

If you don't want to use Ctrl-Shift-S for Zotero, you can just set it to any other shortcut key in Window → Extensions → Keyboard Shortcuts (or edge://extensions/shortcuts). What exactly is the issue?

(For what it's worth, we were using Ctrl-Shift-S before screenshot functionality was built into Chrome. Perhaps we should change our default now, though I'm not sure how many reasonable options there even are that aren't taken, and if you never use the browser screenshot functionality, Ctrl-Shift-S is a logical choice for saving to Zotero.)
  • Is there a way to disable the shortcut entirely?

No. That would be a feature request for the Chromium project. Extensions just declare default keyboard shortcuts in the extension manifest. But it's pretty easy just to set it to some impossible-to-type key combination that you would never type accidentally.
  • Thanks for the detailed information and the fact you had the shortcut before the browsers did =)
OK, I will try. It doesn't let me do combinations of CTRL+ALT, I was trying to do a really wild combo that's impossible to hit accidentally.
