Unable to add tags to items in a collection

  • hello

I am struggling with this same issue. I use the Chrome add on to add items to my library and then I use the Zotero program to make any modifications. I am currently needing to use a laptop which uses a track pad so this "may be" a track pad issue. Unfortunately, I won't be able to test it with a mouse or trackball mouse for the foreseeable future.

I have added quite a few items to a specific collection and realized that while they all dealt with the collection title, they were also several keywords that would be helpful to subdivide the collection into.

There appears to be no way to bulk/batch add tags to items in a collection. I have selected the specific items (using CTRL) multiple times now and tried dragging them to the "tag" and have gotten several undesirable results with NO new tags added. Thankfully, I was able to retrieve the items from the accidental trashing!!

I am a new user to Zotero but I am familiar with database mechanics as used in file directories or spreadsheets. It seems like it would be much simpler to allow the "TAG" feature to be accessed when multiple items are selected.

Thank you for any assistance. I will move on from modifying tags and rely on the hopefully helpful auto tagging.

What? What does dragging to a tag in the tag selector have to do with the trash?

The way you do this is explained in the thread you posted to. (I've now split this off to avoid confusion.) If that's not working for you, provide a Debug ID for an attempt that fails. It might also help to take a screen recording and either provide a link to it or send a link to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.
