Zotero Copy and Paste Citation to SAME Google Doc unlinks the citation

Zotero Connector Report ID: 1943410937

When I copy and paste citations (or cut and paste citations) to the from one part of the Google Doc to another part of the SAME Google Doc, the citation becomes unlinked.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Technology used: MacBook, Google Chrome with Zotero Connector, Zotero Desktop App
2. Copy citation or cut citation from Google Doc (I tried both but both options will unlink the citation)
3. Paste citation somewhere in the SAME google doc.

The error I see is "These citations have become unlinked from Zotero. You will need to relink them before they will update or appear in your bibliography."
  • If you use Zotero refresh in the same document, do you also see this message? See Why isn’t Zotero detecting my existing Google Docs citations?
  • Hello. Thanks for your help. When I click "Refresh" under the Zotero tab, I still get the same error message: "These citations have become unlinked from Zotero. You will need to relink them before they will update or appear in your bibliography."

Thanks for pointing me to that link. I do not have any collaborators. I am the only one working on it. I only work on it in Google Chrome which has the Zotero Connector extension installed.
  • Right, so the relevant part there is about how the actual unlinking likely happened earlier. You'll need to use the doc's version history to figure out when it occurred. (You can create a copy of the current document and then experiment with version history in this one.)
