You're sure you're not in the web library (where this doesn't work) or on a Mac (where it's Cmd+a)? This would be highly unusual to break, though if it really is, the first thing to check after those would be to run Zotero in Troubleshooting Mode (Help menu) and see if it works again. If it does, a plugin is breaking it.
