(citationb)

I am trying to add citations using Zotero and find if I delete the brackets for the citation to place only around the date, when I close and reopen Word, it asks me if I am happy with each edited citation I have made. Have you had this same issue?

i have checked to see if the article is a duplicate in zotero and it is not
  • thank you. the citation comes up as (sharp et al., 2006a) but there is no duplicate for it to say a, how can I solve this?
  • You might have remnants of the citation in your document still. You can switch the to a numeric style (e.g. IEEE) and then turn on Field Codes (https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/word_field_codes)
That can help you locate the stray citation in your document. Delete that and refresh your references then.
  • great, i have done that and it looks like it has worked! It has now happened to one of the other citations. is there something i might be doing that could be causing it?
  • This can sometimes happen with copy/pasting things around in my understanding.
If it's just the one, fix it and you'll be ok. If it happens all the time, that's another thing and should be evaluated.
  • okay thank you, when referencing a study in a meta-analyses, how do I add in ([citation] as shown in [citation]) without getting the message on word everytime I re-open word saying ' are you sure you want this edit? I am writing 35,000 words for my thesis so can't have this for all my citation edits
  • You use suffixes for that.
  • Hi, I want to write this (Greenham et al., 2015 as shown in Gauvin-Lepage et al., 2021) but the add/edit citation shows Gauvin first irrespective of which order I type the citations in. how can i fix through the zotero add on approach? I don't want the '' are you sure you want this edit?' message to come up later
  • Uncheck the "Keep citations sorted". Then you can drag the citations around as you want.
  • hi this option isnt showing up when i open document preferences. I have a mac book and am using microsoft word on the laptop, not online.. any help would be appreciated :)
  • This is in word, in the red cite bubble.
See "Citations with Multiple Cited Items" here: https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage
  • thank you, that's so helpful.

For multiple different citations now, it has added a 'b' after the date e.g. (2017b). Could I be doing something for this to happen? How can I avoid it?
  • I found the duplicate folder to merge and it has solved, thank you anyway! appreciate all your help
