Feature Request: In-App Text to Speech
Hello,
I am unsure of the feasibility but I wanted to ask is there a text to speech (TTS) feature for listening to articles in my Zetero library?
There is a variety of screen reading apps out there but I am hoping there is a way to have everything as part of the same application to make note taking easier.
When I listen with google's "Listen to Page" on mobile, or Acrobat's Speech to Text the drawback is nothing is synchronized. So if I listen to a really specific part of an article all I can do is make a separate note or take a screenshot but it comes back to having loose threads.
Thanks for your thoughts, if anyone has other work arounds that uses TTS let me know!

I am wondering if there are other TTS voice options/plugins as the default voice in the ZoTTS plugin is quiet robotic. Beggars can't be choosers but I have hope.
Thanks
Have you tried messing around with the ZoTTS settings? They're in a tab in the same place as Zotero's settings.
Most of the voices on Windows are acceptable but voices on MacOS and Linux can vary in quality (the default one in MacOS is some comedy robot voice I think...) so you may need to see what voices are available and pick a better option.
You may also be able to get better voices that the built in ones that come with your OS, I wrote some documentation about that here: https://github.com/ImperialSquid/zotero-zotts/blob/main/docs/BETTER_VOICES.md
Lastly, it's small comfort for now, but ZoTTS was built from the ground up to support multiple TTS engines so integrating stuff like Azure, Speechify, etc, should be very possible (I apologise for the delay on that, I've been very busy with lots of personal life stuff over the last few months lol)
