[article] in APA 7 bibliography list

Why do about 50% of my references include [article] after the article name when they are not supposed to? Will I need to remove manually for each one?

  • Can you look and let us know what that item has in the fields Extra and Library Catalog? The problem is because of Extra, Library Catalog will help us troubleshoot
  • So the library catalog is blank but there was some text in the Extra field that mentioned that the genre was an article. When I removed that the reference populateds correctly! Thank you!

Is there any way to avoid this - or do I need to manually remove the extra fields for each entry?

If you remember how you saved this article in Zotero, it would be helpful. Was it through the Zotero connector? From a file (.ris, .bib,...)? By dragging and dropping the PDF in Zotero?

Edit: I just tried with the example above via the connector, the magic wand, the BibTeX and RIS files, no "article" in the Extra field

Delete that from Extra. If you recall where the item was imported from like poettli mentioned, it’s possible the import script there could be adjusted to remove that automatically
