I've been having numerous occasions where Zotero connector in Firefox (which has always worked spectacularly smoothly) will not save a reference to my library by any of the optional methods. Moreover, several subfolders in the "My Library" directory show "Error loading list" although my group libraries are available. My storage is almost full, but I'm trying to manage with what I have. Unsure how any of these issues might be related. My recent usage pattern to save space is I back up as usual locally but usually delete the archived pdfs. I have just also tuned off automatic sync. All problems remain.
  • [JavaScript Error: "Error(s) encountered during statement execution: disk I/O error
This is a generic storage I/O error. We can't tell you specifically what the problem is, but the most common cause is having your Zotero data directory on a network filesystem or in a cloud storage folder (where it should never be). It could also be due to an actual physical problem with your disk or due to security software interfering with Zotero's ability to access the disk.

(The above error would be causing the failures, but for Firefox specifically, you should also make sure you actually have the latest version of the Zotero Connector.)
  • Thank you for the clarity. I was using a USB external for the data directory and I swear I had been doing that for a while before the problems started...but i can't claim that was a controlled experiment: My memory for dates is decaying.
At any rate resetting to the default (thanks for the back-up warning) seems to have reactivated my ability to save.
    I'm happy, cheers.
