Feature request: Snapshot for other types besides web page

As far as I can see, you can only save a snapshot as type "web page", but many other types, like blog entries or online magazines/newspapers, also would requite snapshots to save the full text.

I often find that I save an article with the Zotero button with the correct type (e.g. magazine article) but then have to save it again as "web page with snapshot" and then manually move the snapshot to the other entry and delete the new "web page" entry. would be easier if I could save a snapshot just for any type of entry. Could that be done?
  • Could you give an example? Generally, online magazines and newspapers (etc.) should get saved with a snapshot
  • Here is a random example:
    https://taz.de/Kuenstliche-Intelligenz-an-Universitaeten/!6098917/

With the browser button, this is saved using the connector "taz.de" as a newspaper article but has no snapshot. The context menu gives me the choices taz.de/embedded metadata/web page without snapshot/web page with snapshot; with the last optio I get a snapshot but the entry has type "web page".
  • (In case that's not clear: that should save a snapshot and does for me, hence the question about the settings)
  • Thank you, that works. I didn't realise that this refers to other types, as the option says "web pages" - perhaps that could be phrased differently?

However, I'm not sure I want to set this option as I don't need snapshots for all items (that's why I originally disabled it). It would be useful to be able to select a snapshot individually.
  • Most web pages do get saved with a snapshot (as long as you have that set in Settings\General). If sometimes you don't get a Snapshot saved by the connector, you can always use the SingleFile browser extension to save the webpage and then add it to the item. SingleFile is the same method used by Zotero.

Or if you want an individual choice every time, turn off the Setting and use SingleFile when you want a snapshot.
  • Thank you, but that workaround with SingleFile is not really more convenient than the workaround I'm already using.
