I just unistall zotero 6 and update it. However, this is the code in the properties of plugin (Report ID 279846501). Now I can not get pdf from website and can not even add local pdf into zotero. My previous pdf of some of the papers I saved are gone. I tried a lot of methods online but did not help.

What do you mean that you cannot add local pdfs into Zotero? What are you trying to do and what happens? Did you try in Troubleshooting Mode (Help -> Restart in Troubleshooting Mode)?

Submit a Report ID from Zotero. Then submit a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector for an attempt to save the article which is causing you issues.
  • Apologize for my incomplete description earlier. Here are the details of the issue:

I use Zotero to search for articles in the Edge browser and add them to Zotero via the Zotero Connector plugin on the article page. However, during this process, the plugin does not automatically capture the PDF files of the articles.

To work around this, I tried downloading the article PDFs to my computer and dragging them into the corresponding Zotero item so I could read the PDFs directly in Zotero instead of reading them online. Unfortunately, this method also failed — I was unable to attach the locally stored PDFs to the item. I also tried running Zotero with administrator privileges, but this did not resolve the issue.

This problem started appearing few days ago. I suspect it might be related to upgrading Zotero to version 7. However, after upgrading Zotero and reinstalling the Zotero Connector plugin for Edge, the problem persists. Currently, I am unable to read papers directly in Zotero and can only click on the item to open the corresponding website for online reading.

I tried enabling debug mode, but the issue still remains. I have submitted a debug report, and the report ID is 1033366849.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could help look into this issue and provide possible solutions. Thank you very much!
  • Restart Zotero in troubleshooting mode and see if you can drag in PDFs to attach to items, and if saves from Zotero Connector work with PDFs. Also check under Zotero Preferences -> General, that the checkbox to automatically attach associated PDFs and other files is checked.
  • @wslsc: Two of your groups have file editing disabled.
  • Hi all. I can not drag in PDFs in troubleshooting mode. I can confirm that the checkbox is checked

Debug ID: D396042200 (try to drag in PDFs) and D1762740009 (try to save from zotero connector but no PDFs only title)

@dstillman Hi, I wonder which two of the groups are disabled? How can I enable it? And btw I can save from zotero connector but without PDFs.
  • File editing is a setting in the group settings online. Private groups default to allowing file editing, so this is something you turned off (or you converted from a public open group, which doesn't allow file editing).
  • (And yes, this is the issue here. You're trying to save to one of the groups with file editing disabled.)
  • @dstillman Thank you very much now the problem is solved. You saved my life!
