Upgrade StorageScreen grab images in Notes are no longer visible
Hi, I've taken some screenshots on my PC (portions of the whole screen) and pasted them into Notes which I've added to some resources. However, I can now only see an outline of where the image should be, but only a white box (no broken image link icon).
The screenshots appear ok when created, but are no longer visible some weeks later.
I have the Linked Attachment Base Directory at C:\Users\johnb\Dropbox\PC\Documents\Zotero\ZotFile
(I used to use Zotfile, but don't have it any longer since I'm using v7.0.20 (64-bit), although I have kept that folder name.)
I have the Data Directory location at:
C:\Zotero\Directory
I have unticked "Sync attachment files in My Library using" ...
I also have Zotero on my laptop, with the same folder paths and settings. I use Dropbox to sync the attachments.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be, and how to fix it?

Images in notes are only synced across devices if file syncing is turned on. If not, they will only be visible on the original device (where they are locally stored under Zotero\storage).
I don't have file syncing turned on using Zotero syncing, or WebDAV, but have the attachment folder synced using DropBox. I thought that that would suffice. It has in the past.
As I look more into it, I see that the few Notes with screenshots created before I updated to v7 are still there, on the device they were created on (PC). But those created since updating to v7 are missing on both my PC and laptop.
If I select to sync files using Zotero, I will run out of storage space. Is that the only option? I would have thought that syncing the attachments folder using DropBox would have worked. Or is there a filename issue that Dropbox doesn't sync certain types of files?
With your set-up, you're not syncing the Zotero attachment folder -- you're syncing the folder where ZotFile (or a different plugin) moves select attachments -- ZotFile did that mostly for PDFs, so in effect yes, it doesn't sync certain file types.
Two things. One is that screenshots aren't visible on the same machine.
Second, is it not possible to select a folder of my choice for Zotero attachments, as the 'Zotero attachment folder', as I have done by choosing the 'Linked Attachment Base Directory', even it if is a legacy folder that I used for Zotfile? Or is there another attachment folder that I need to sync as well? (I want to avoid syncing the database, but only attachments, which is why I've not installed Zotero within a DropBox folder.)
I've tested by saving screenshots, syncing, closing and reopening Zotero, and the screenshots are still there. I'll keep an eye on that to see if they are still there in the weeks ahead. Shame I can't get the old ones that are lost, though.
Ok, I get it now. It is the 'Storage' folder that contains the screenshots etc., while I have opted to save in a separate folder file attachments like PDFs that I added. Are there any suggestions as to how to sync the storage folder, then? I used to do it using symlinks to a folder within DropBox, but DropBox dropped support for that a while ago. (I prefer not to use OneDrive, if possible.)
Edit: That is, apart from Zotero storage, since I have almost 10GB of storage apart from attachments.
