Disappearing text when adding bib info to items in Zotero Desktop

The problem started yesterday. I checked for updates and there was one, now running 7.0.16 64-bit on Windows 11. Still have the issue.

Basically, for any of the fields in the info section of a new bib entry, a couple seconds after I start typing, the field goes blank, or reverts to what was there before I started typing. It is driving me nuts!

It happens both when I click into a new field and type, or when going to a new field via tab.

There's no evidence that it's trying to sync, based on the symbol.
  • Can you reproduce this in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins?
  • Yes! Started troubleshooting mode, made a new bib entry from an orphan PDF.

Initial title was: Rist 2014b (from underlying PDF)
Started typing in the correct title (Water Wars Pt. 1)
It let me type then did the weird refresh thing, making the title "Rist 2014s b"

Even if I wait a couple seconds, it still does it. Waiting a longer time (at least 5 seconds, seems to make it less likely. But this is tedious and also, didn't use to happen.
  • Does it happen if you temporarily disable auto-sync in the Sync pane of the settings?
  • And can you provide a Debug ID for reproducing it?
  • Ok, if I disable auto-sync, it works normally. I can live with that!

Do you still want a debug ID? The behavior happens if I turn auto-sync back on, so I can do that if it would be useful.
  • No, that's just a debugging step, not a fix. Auto-sync should stay enabled.

We'll want a Debug ID for reproducing it with auto-sync enabled, yes.
  • Back again. Had a break at work to try and create the Debug ID and - it seems to be working normally again! I am surprised because it wasn't that I had just started Zotero after working elsewhere or anything. But, I feel like it's resolved for now. If I encounter the issue again I'll do the Debug ID. Thank you so much for helping me today!
