Lost collections

I recently tidied up my zotero and added new collections then when I went back into zotero not all the collections were there. Is there a way to retrieve collections? I have checked my online zotero but it is the same as my zotero app

    No collections have been deleted in your online library since last October, and you appear to have been syncing regularly since then, so I'm not sure what to tell you.

    Twelve collections in your library have been created this month. It's possible you accidentally moved them under some other collections and just aren't looking in the right place.
