Feature request: Bring back automatic PDF preview in the right-hand pane when selecting items
Since the update to Zotero 7, the automatic PDF preview in the lower part of the right-hand pane no longer appears when selecting an item that contains a PDF attachment. Previously, Zotero would show a preview of the first page of the attached PDF immediately upon selecting the parent item in the middle pane — which was extremely helpful for quickly identifying and reviewing documents.
Now, the preview is only displayed after clicking directly on the PDF attachment itself. While I understand this may be an intentional change related to the new user interface, it feels like a step backwards in terms of usability and workflow speed.
I would like to kindly ask the developers to consider reintroducing the previous behavior, or at least offering it as an optional setting. Judging by other comments in the community, I am not the only one who found this feature very useful.
Thank you for your consideration and all the great work on Zotero.

The preview appears by default in the Attachments section of the right-hand pane when you click on the top-level item. If you're not seeing, you may have hidden it. Right-click on the Attachments header and choose "Show Attachment Preview".
