Incorrect journal abbreviation when citing in Word

Hi,

I'm trying to cite an article from "Monatshefte für Chemie" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monatshefte_für_Chemie ) in my Word document (Nature style, checkbox for using MEDLINE abbreviations is on) and there are a number of issues with it:

1) Importing the article populates the "Publication" field in Zotero with "Montatshefte für Chemie - Chemical Monthly". I have to remove the " - Chemical Monthly" by hand for every article from that journal so that it doesn't get incorporated into the abbreviation

2) The proper abbreviation should be "Monatsh. Chem.", but instead I get "Monatshefte Für Chem." and even if I try to put in different names in the "Publication" field I don't get the correct abbreviation with periods in the correct places

3) I would rather avoid turning off the MEDLINE abbreviation checkbox in the Word plugin. Otherwise I would have to manually check that "Journal Abbr" is correct in Zotero for every single paper I'm citing in the Word document.

Any ideas for how to solve this? Thank you!

    There's nothing easy. Zotero used to recognize a custom abbreviations.json file placed in the data directory, but I have no idea if that still works (if it does, you can find instructions in old posts).

    Beyond that, definitely an area where some more customization (e.g. also the ability to use completely custom lists) would be helpful.
