Connector : couldn't connect to pipe

edited 5 days ago
Hi I have installed LibreOffice 25.2.4.3 on my Mac (direct from the web, not through App store) and installed Java 24.0.1. I opened Zotero (downloaded direct from Zotero) and tried to install the extension for LibreOffice in the Zotero settings, but nothing happens when I press on the "Install LibreOffice Add-in" button.

So I opened the Zotero package and ran Zotero_LibreOffice_Integration.oxt . In LibreOffic I can see the extension with an error mesage of 'The status of this extension is unknown'.

WHen I click on 'Enable' , a progress bar for 'Enabling Zotero LibreOffice Integration' comes up but after a while I get the error message "Connector: couldn't connect to pipe' and a long code (see screenshot below). The Zotero bar appears in LibreOffice but nothing happens when I click on them.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any suggestions? I think it is probably a Java problem but I do not have the competence to know how to trouble-shoot.

Regards /OT, Lund, Sweden.

  • I also had / have this problem. Somehow I got around it by uninstalling LibreOffice completely, and then reinstalling, including some restarts etc. — but don't know what really was the cause. Somehow the Zotero extension got installed, but before I also got this error message, even when trying it via CLI:

    ```
    unopkg add /Applications/Zotero.app/Contents/Resources/integration/libreoffice/Zotero_LibreOffice_Integration.oxt
    ERROR: Exception occurred: An error occurred while enabling: Zotero.jar: com.sun.star.connection.NoConnectException "Connector : couldn't connect to pipe "f53689d25ed3ce144849bb42f366f451a079c7c649787a9f4b2f546825866": 10"
    ERROR: unopkg failed.
    ```

    Now I have this issue with another extension, which was running perfectly until I uninstalled it. Installing the other extension now also fails with this type of error message. So I think the problems seems to be located somewhere at LibreOffice...
  • i'm in exactly the same scenario as OP. any updates or solutions you came across? thanks!
  • Updating--just downgraded to LibreOffice_25.2.3 and tried again and it worked this time
  • You should report this to LibreOffice.
  • I tried the downgrading thing but still get the same message, unfortunately.
