Juris-M: help with digital code signing etc.

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone here might be interested in helping with Juris-M releases, in particular digital code signing; this invovles persuading platforms and browser teams that Juris-M releases aren't concealing malware or breaking other terms.

It's one of the things that is challenging the developer and if you are interested in this please e-mail me at six@ucla.edu.

  • As I've mentioned to you before, anyone inclined to work on Jurism should instead work on converting its functionality into multiple plugins. There's no reason this should be a fork anymore, and there's no reason the legal functionality should be combined with the multilingual functionality.

People should not have to choose between Zotero and an intermittently maintained fork that is sometimes years behind Zotero. They should use Zotero with appropriate plugins.

(Even the very premise here seems misguided. Platforms and browser makers should not really be expected to trust an unofficial, at-times-abandoned fork with the vast complexity of Zotero but without its organizational foundation and development resources.)
  • The point is well taken, and in principle I don’t disagree, but currently no one is doing development on this except Frank. So the reason there is no plug-in is because no one else is working on it.

Unfortunately, I’m basically only a dedicated end-user and while I can try to get institutional support or other resources, the actual development work is beyond my ability. If there’s a viable way to move forward, I’d be happy to help facilitate it, but it seems, here again, as before, is not being able to get the right folks on board.
