FIXED: Zotero not syncing bug report152770071

My Zotero standalone Windows 11 has stopped syncing. I have sent in a bug report. It appears as if it is being blocked by ZScaler, our company's security app. But my IT department is not seeing it as such. Here is the error message I've reformatted from the error logs.

Issue was the Firefox version 115 which was too old for my security software. moving to the beta fixed the issue (version 128)

    I'm not sure what you mean by that. This is obviously a message from Zscaler, so you'd have to talk to your IT department.

    Zotero is based on Firefox and identifies itself that way. Zotero 7.1, currently in beta, will be based on Firefox 128 and will identify itself that way, so if the issue is just that they now require Firefox 128 instead of 115, you can use that. But if they don't allow Firefox at all, your only option would be to talk to your IT department.

    They could allow traffic just to zotero.org, but note that other things will still be broken that way:

  • Thank you for this very helpful tip. Yeah, IT wasn't getting it at all, but the issue was the firefox version. I switched to the beta version and the sync started working again, much appreciated!
